Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and volunteering in the community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and won two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played nine seasons for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his career. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He captained his college team in the year 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
