Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is an writer, philanthropist and television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family when she was 16 years old. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to be elected president in the famous debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the presidency. When she graduated, she made her mark as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice portal which offered critical observations regarding the state of affairs. Her fame and popularity helped in getting several high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna became famous after she decided to become an Independent candidate for the California Recall election to succeed the Governor Davis. Additionally, she led the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. Forbes named her as 12th on its top 10 list of Most Popular Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their Top 100 list in 2010. In 2011 AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media group which included many then-existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is a daughter born to Konstantinos an advisor to management and a journalist. They were very close to her father. However, it was her relationship with her mother who has shaped her. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. Her move to England came at 16, to pursue her education and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college, she joined Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college which she later became the first foreign and female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Masters in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic, and as a host on television. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
